Pollution Rose Plots

Photos from the Web Services Team ERG added the ability to plot the level of pollution by the direction of the wind at the time.

This tool helps us to understand how any local sources may affect any readings seen, and is a great help in pollution analysis. The website allows users to select the most appropriate wind data, based on how well it covers the dates in question, the quality of the wind data and the distance for the pollution sites the wind data was measured.

This is needed because wind data varies greatly in its quality, and some wind measurements are valid for local sites only. The tool keeps ther user informed about what data is being selected, and warns of any problems with the data.

This project produces very nice images, but we have also worked hard to ensure that the data is correct and that the tool is useful.
